To whom it may concern,

I am disappointed to see the changes made recently to cigar boxes and the treatment of cigars. It appears that each time I reply to your submissions I get screwed a little more, ie cigar box clasps and hinges, also oval shaped cigar tubes. It appears that you do not show any concern for small honest retailers who are selling a legal product. You have no evidence to treat the cigar industry this way as I have clearly demonstrated on previous occasions that this legislation will have no effect except to bastardise Australian retailers who are small in numbers and very defenceless all for the self gratification of the now attorney general who recently stated that the key principles of freedom, respect, equality, dignity and a fair go for all australians are considered in everything the parliament does. There are some minor issues that I will not bring to your attention as I know that you will also use this against the industry. I could agree with the plain packaging of tobacco if there was one shred of evidence to prove that it will have an effect, in fact the new legislation will only normalize tobacco products as all the previous changes have and you know that. In conclusion I urge you to leave cigars alone if for no other reason than to gauge how successful cigarette legislation is, and finally I have smoked 50 to 60 cigarettes a day for 48 years I am now 64 years of age and very healthy.
