The Commission has developed specifications for a standard national patient identification band. The specifications set out standards for the useability, content and colour of patient identification bands in Australia. In July 2008 these specifications were endorsed by Health Ministers for use in public and private health services.
In addition to the specifications, a fact sheet and FAQ have been prepared by the Commision to assist with the implementation. These resources are available below:
- Specifications for a standard patient identification band (PDF 417 KB)
- Fact Sheet – Specifications for a standard patient identification band (PDF 418 KB)
- FAQ – Specifications for a standard patient identification band (PDF 419 KB)
