This Chapter begins with an overview of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) Guidelines for evaluating public health surveillance systems which were used to evaluate the current trachoma surveillance system. It then describes the available national and international literature on best practice in public health surveillance systems targeted at Indigenous people and people living in remote and isolated areas; and draws conclusions relevant to this review.
