Although your child's nutritional needs with change as he or she grows and develops, healthy eating is always important. At around 12 months of age, children are ready to enjoy family foods.

Young children need a wide range of nutritious foods to help their development, and to stay healthy. It is normal for children's appetities to vary from day to day. Young children are usually very good at knowing how hungry they are and deciding how much they will eat. Your role is to provide a variety of healthy foods for your child to choose from. See Dietary Guidelines for Children and Adolescents in Australia (page 21).
