The 2004 review identified few studies that examined the cost effectiveness or cost benefits of PAD programs. An American study that was included in the Jacobs review concluded that PAD programs may be 'economically attractive' despite the fact that they are more expensive than traditional EMS response mechanisms. No Australian data was available at the time of the review.The review concluded:
PAD would appear to be potentially a cost effective intervention however no formal cost benefit analysis has been undertaken in Australia (Jacobs 2004, P.23).
