Visual impairment can markedly reduce health and wellbeing. It can affect a person’s ability to perform everyday activities such as reading or watching television, as well as their mobility (increasing the risk of falls and injury), their ability to drive and their ability to work. These effects reduce the person’s independence and are often accompanied by isolation, depression and poorer social relationships.
