Overseas trained doctors and Australian medical employers are able to use a medical recruitment agency of their choice to provide assistance with their recruitment needs. Information is provided below to assist you to identify a suitable medical recruitment agency.

Government funded medical recruitment

The Department of Health and Ageing has contracted several medical recruitment agencies to assist appropriately qualified overseas trained doctors to find work as a general practitioner (GP/family physician) or specialist in Australia. Overseas trained doctors may wish to contact one of these contracted medical recruitment agencies to receive assistance to work in Australia as a GP or specialist.

The Australian Government funds Rural Workforce Agencies to assist overseas doctors who wish to work as general practitioners in rural areas. Rural Workforce Agencies can be contacted through Rural Health Workforce Australia www.rhwa.org.au

Australian Association of Medical Recruitment Agents (AAMRA)

The Australian Association of Medical Recruitment Agents (AAMRA) has been established under the auspices of the Recruitment and Consulting Services Association (RCSA).

All AAMRA members need to comply with the RCSA's Constitution, Code for Professional Practice, Disciplinary and Dispute Resolution Process and other compliance criteria established by the RCSA. Members of AAMRA also need to have met accreditation requirements established by the RCSA.
