Industry experts and advocates will descend on Adelaide to talk all things ageing at the 2012 National Aged Care Conference.
Minister for Ageing Mark Butler will open the inaugural 2012 National Aged Care Conference in Adelaide.
The free two day conference attracted over 1000 delegates to hear from leading experts and advocates in aged care, including the recently appointed chair of the Aged Care Reform Implementation Council Professor Peter Shergold, President of Alzheimer’s Australia, Ita Buttrose, and Ambassador for Ageing, Noeline Brown.
Minister for Mental Health and Ageing Mark Butler said the conference would discuss key elements of the Living Longer Living Better – the Government’s 10-year plan to deliver more choice and control, easier access, and better quality care for older Australians and their families.
"This conference will explore important areas of the aged care reform package and the sector will share innovative practices relating to the key themes of the reforms: Access, Choice and Control, Quality, Wellness and Re-ablement.
Announced in April, the Living Longer Living Better package provides $3.7 billion over five years to build a better, fairer and more nationally consistent aged care system.
Mr Butler said he looked forward to the conference being streamed live online, to better reach those unable to attend the conference.
"Streaming the conference online will allow the public to access the entire conference in real-time, including watching panel discussions on the future of aged care, keynote addresses by industry leaders and the plenary sessions," Mr Butler said.
