People living in Jabiru and the wider Kakadu region can look forward to better access to health care after it was announced that Blue Sun Dental (based in Parap) will receive $221,778 of funding under round five of the Australian Government’s National Rural and Remote Health Infrastructure Program.

People living in Jabiru and the wider Kakadu region can look forward to better access to health care after it was announced that Blue Sun Dental (based in Parap) will receive $221,778 of funding under round five of the Australian Government’s National Rural and Remote Health Infrastructure Program (NRRHIP).
The funding will allow Blue Sun Dental to purchase, modify and fully equip a caravan to carry out mobile dental services.
Announcing the funding today the Hon Warren Snowdon MP said the NRRHIP aimed to make it easier for residents living in regional and remote areas to access medical services.
“People living in rural and remote Australia will benefit from a range of improved and new health services,” Mr Snowdon said.
“This funding of $8.5 million is yet another example of the importance that the Gillard Government places on the health and well-being of all Australians no matter where they live, closing the divide between rural and metropolitan health services.
The NRRHIP was introduced by Labor to provide essential infrastructure for innovative models of health service delivery to rural and remote communities.
The Government has already delivered 100 projects which are completed and operational.
The first four rounds of NRRHIP funded 175 projects with a total value of $35 million.
“I am delighted that these communities will be able to benefit from the NRRHIP’s fifth round of funding and it demonstrates this government’s commitment to ensure timely access to health services across Australia when and where people need them,” Mr Snowdon said.
