Mount Isa residents will soon have better access to GPs and allied health professionals following the signing of a $5 million agreement with Kinetic Health Group Pty Ltd to establish the Mount Isa GP Super Clinic.

Mount Isa residents will soon have better access to GPs and allied health professionals following the signing of a $5 million agreement with Kinetic Health Group Pty Ltd to establish the Mount Isa GP Super Clinic.
Minister for Health and Ageing Nicola Roxon today welcomed the signing of the $5 million agreement as a boost to health services in Mount Isa.
“This GP Super Clinic will deliver better access to health services for locals in a single, convenient location,” Minister Roxon said.
“The Gillard Government wants to make it easier for all Australians to see and contact a doctor and GP Super Clinics around the country are making this happen.
“The Mount Isa GP Super Clinic will provide a new integrated, multidisciplinary, team-based, patient-centred healthcare under one roof.
“Patients will be able to access care from GPs, nurses, allied health professionals, and visiting medical specialists.”
“The Mount Isa GP Super Clinic will have a strong emphasis on chronic disease and preventive health through community focused nurse led clinics as well as general practice, occupational health and skin clinic services, minor emergency treatment, allied health services such as physiotherapy, podiatry and counselling, and pathology and pharmacy.
“GP Super Clinics are part of our commitment to boost frontline GP and primary healthcare services here in Mount Isa and deliver tangible benefits to the local communities,” Minister Roxon said.

“The Gillard Government is making a significant investment in the GP Super Clinics program and has committed $528 million to build 64 GP Super Clinics around Australia. 31 GP Super Clinics are now either open, providing early services or under construction
“We have also funded around 425 Primary Care Infrastructure Grants to upgrade and extend existing general practices, primary care and community health services, and Aboriginal Medical Services."
