Minister for Health and Ageing Nicola Roxon and Senator for the Northern Territory, Trish Crossin today announced that the Department of Health and Ageing has opened the Invitation to Apply process for the establishment of the $5 million Northern Suburbs GP Super Clinic in Darwin.
“The GP Super Clinics program is at the heart of the Gillard Government’s efforts to make it easier for Territorians to see and contact a doctor when they need to,” Minister Roxon said.
“The Department of Health and Ageing has issued an Invitation to Apply for interested parties to apply for up to $5 million to establish a GP Super Clinic in Darwin’s Northern Suburbs.”
“The Gillard Government is committed to accessible, essential health services through GP Super Clinics. This process follows a detailed consultation session with the local community and health care providers.
“There is no ‘one size fits all’ and GP Super Clinic services will be targeted to meet the local needs,” Minister Roxon said.
Senator for the Northern Territory Trish Crossin said the variety of services that will be offered at the Northern Suburbs GP Super Clinic will respond to local health care needs and priorities.
Parties interested in applying for funding to establish the local GP Super Clinic should address the selection criteria outlined in the Invitation to Apply documentation.
Material is available on the Department of Health and Ageing’s Tenders and Grants website at www.health.gov.au/tenders.
Applications close at 2pm, Australian Eastern Standard Time, on Wednesday 20 July 2011
The Gillard Government is making a significant investment in the GP Super Clinics program and has committed $528 million to build 64 GP Super Clinics around Australia.
This is on top of funding for approximately 425 Primary Care Infrastructure Grants to upgrade and extend existing general practices, primary care and community health services, and Aboriginal Medical Services.
