14 February 2011Adelaide residents and health professionals shared ideas this morning about the best options for the GP Super Clinic in central Adelaide.
GP Super Clinics are playing a key role in the Gillard Government’s efforts to make it easier for Australians to see and contact a doctor when they need to.
The Minister for Health and Ageing, Nicola Roxon, said that today’s community consultation was designed to ensure the Adelaide GP Super Clinic would meet local needs.
“There is no ‘one size fits all’ for GP Super Clinics, so we ensuring local residents and health professionals can share ideas about the best options for their local GP Super Clinic in central Adelaide.”
Member for Adelaide Kate Ellis said that this GP Super Clinic will provide quality and accessible heath care for Adelaide residents who have faced difficulties in being able to access a GP in their local area.
“Over several years I have heard from residents about the difficulties they face accessing quality GP services, which is why I’m delighted that the Gillard Government is building this GP Super Clinic.
“We want to make sure the community has an opportunity to shape our new GP Super Clinic and to ensure that it meets the needs of our community”, Ms Ellis said.
“These information and consultation sessions also offer communities a great opportunity to ask general information about the GP Super Clinics program and funding processes,” Minster Roxon said.
The Gillard Government will provide up to $15 million to establish the Adelaide GP Super Clinic as part of the funding for 28 additional GP Super Clinics provided in the 2010-11 Budget.
