The Australian Government has today issued an Invitation to Apply for parties to establish the proposed $15 million ACT GP Super Clinic following a community consultation that was held on 20 December 2010.
The Minister for Health and Ageing, Nicola Roxon, said the Government was committed to accessible, essential health services through GP Super Clinics.
“A wide range of stakeholders attended the community consultation held in December, demonstrating a keen interest in establishing a GP Super Clinic in the ACT,” Ms Roxon said.
The potential variety of services for each GP Super Clinic is determined in line with local community health care needs and priorities, and complement and enhance the range of existing health services.
“There is no ‘one size fits all’ and GP Super Clinic services will be targeted to meeting local needs,” Ms Roxon said.
Parties interested in applying for funding to establish the ACT GP Super Clinic should address the selection criteria outlined in the Invitation to Apply documentation, available on the department’s Tenders and Grants web page at: www.health.gov.au/tenders. Applications close at 2.00 pm on Tuesday, 15 March.
The ACT GP Super Clinic is part of the Gillard Government’s commitment of $370.2 million for an additional 28 GP Super Clinics and around 425 Primary Care Infrastructure Grants to upgrade and extend existing general practices, primary care and community health services, and Aboriginal Medical Services. This builds on the Government’s initial investment of $280.2 million for 36 GP Super Clinics across Australia. Twenty-seven of these are either operational, providing early services or under construction.
