Nowra GP Super Clinic to Provide Better Health Services
Nowra residents will soon have better access to GPs and allied health professionals following the signing of a $7 million agreement with the Illawarra Division of General Practice Ltd.

30 July 2011Nowra residents will soon have better access to GPs and allied health professionals following the signing of a $7 million agreement with the Illawarra Division of General Practice Ltd.
Acting Minister for Health and Ageing, Mark Butler, today welcomed the signing of the $7 million agreement as a welcome boost to health care in Nowra.
“This GP Super Clinic will deliver better access to health services for locals in a single, convenient location,” Minister Butler said.
“The Gillard Government wants to make it easier for all Australians to see and contact a doctor and GP Super Clinics around the country are making this happen.
“Nowra GP Super Clinic will provide a new level of integrated, multidisciplinary, team-based, patient-centred healthcare all under one roof.
“Patients will be able to access care from GPs, nurses, allied health professionals and visiting medical specialists.
“The Nowra Clinic will have a strong emphasis on chronic disease and preventive health care and plans to bring together general practice, dietetics, psychology, mental health and exercise physiology services.
NSW Senator Ursula Stephens said that GP Super Clinics are providing care to communities where it’s needed most.
“GP Super Clinics are providing better access to health care for local communities across NSW now and into the future.
“The Nowra GP Super Clinic will train our next generation of health professionals locally with a focus on training and education for medical, nursing and allied health students, and act as a major site for GP registrar training,” Senator Stephens said.
The Gillard Government is making a significant investment in the GP Super Clinics program and has committed $650 million to build 64 GP Super Clinics and upgrade around 425 existing general practices, primary care and community health services, and Aboriginal Medical Services across Australia. 31 GP Super Clinics are now either open, providing early services, or under construction.
