Getting Information about Medicines and Medical Devices Made Easier
Australians will now be able to more easily find information about medicines and medical devices approved for use by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), Parliamentary Secretary for Health and Ageing, Catherine King, has announced.

Australians will now be able to more easily find information about medicines and medical devices approved for use by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), Parliamentary Secretary for Health and Ageing, Catherine King, announced today.
Ms King said the TGA has moved to significantly improve the search functions on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) which lists all therapeutic goods approved for use in Australia.
“This is an important advance which will benefit consumers, health professionals and the industry,” Ms King said.
“The ARTG has always been online but difficult to navigate and understand. These new search and selection functions will allow consumers to be more informed about their medicines and medical devices,” Ms King said.
"It is now easy for consumers to find a product name and the ingredients, details about the company, the date a product was approved for use in Australia and importantly any warnings about the use of the product.”
Ms King said making the ARTG more searchable and accessible is an important step in making the TGA more transparent.
“It reflects the TGA's growing commitment to improving the way it communicates with its stakeholders,” she said.
Ms King recently commissioned a comprehensive review of the way in which the TGA communicates its regulatory processes and decisions.
"This change is another step towards making consumers and health practitioners better informed about therapeutic goods on the Australian market and the ways in which the TGA regulates these products to protect the health and safety of the community," she said.

Help with accessing large documents
When accessing large documents (over 500 KB in size), it is recommended that the following procedure be used:
- Click the link with the RIGHT mouse button
- Choose "Save Target As.../Save Link As..." depending on your browser
- Select an appropriate folder on a local drive to place the downloaded file
Attempting to open large documents within the browser window (by left-clicking)
may inhibit your ability to continue browsing while the document is
opening and/or lead to system problems.
Help with accessing PDF documents
To view PDF (Portable Document Format) documents, you will need to have a PDF reader installed on your computer. A number of PDF readers are available through the Australian Government Information Management Office (AGIMO) Web Guide website.
