The 10 million Australians who are covered by private hospital cover now have a better tool to call on when trying to work out which cover is best for them, with the launch today in Sydney of improvements to the website: privatehealth.gov.au
The key feature of the website allows consumers to easily compare policies, which will makes it even easier for people to compare private health insurance products.
The Minister for Health and Ageing, Nicola Roxon, explained that people need reliable information on private health insurance products to allow them to make informed choices.
“The improvements to the privatehealth.gov.au website are great news for consumers,” Ms Roxon said.
“Being able to compare policies quickly and easily will be welcomed by many.”
The website improvements, launched today by the Private Health Insurance Ombudsman in Sydney, include an improved search feature that is very user-friendly and follows extensive consultations with a reference group made up of consumers, private health insurers and health providers.
Consumers can find out how much they are likely to pay in premiums, which hospitals the insurers have agreements with and where they can be treated with no or low gap.
The updated website also lists average charges for 21 commonly used dental services.
The Australian Government provided the Private Health Insurance Ombudsman $100,000 to develop the updated website.
