The Organ and Tissue Donation Authority is calling for applications from non-government organisations and professional bodies for a second round of community grants to help encourage Australians to donate vital organs for over 1700 Australians who are awaiting a life saving donation.
Total funding of $275,000 is available for initiatives that will raise awareness and understanding in the community about organ and tissue donation, including the need for individuals to discover the facts, make an informed decision about becoming a donor, and discuss their decision with the people close to them.
To do this, the Authority is focusing on improving capability and capacity in the health system and improving awareness and engagement of the Australian community, the non-government sector, donor families and others involved in increasing organ and tissue donation.
Applications for grants are invited from all non-government organisations and professional bodies who can deliver measurable, demonstrable outcomes that integrate with, and complement the work of, the Authority in the second of these areas.
Information about the application process and relevant documentation can be found on the Authority’s website at: www.donatelife.gov.au.
The closing date for proposals is Friday 28 May 2010. Successful applications will be notified by 18 June 2010.
