10 February 2010

Today’s decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport is great news for Astrid and Cecilia and Australia’s Winter Olympic team.

Today CAS ruled in favour of the Australian team determining that the International Bobsleigh Federation didn’t follow the guidelines regarding continental representation.

It also recommended to the IOC that, rather than including the Australian sled at the expense of another team, a 21st team be allowed to compete.

The CAS decision is yet to be ratified by the IOC.

Australia is starting the games on a high. This decision is Australia’s second win before the Games have even started, after a decision to allow the Boxing Kangaroo flag to remain at the athletes’ village.

I wish Astrid and Cecilia the very best of luck and assure them that Australia will be cheering them on when they hit the ice.
