New Allied Health Web-Based Training Package Launched
Education and training for allied health workers is now just a mouse click away after a new web-based training package was launched.

12 August 2009Education and training for allied health workers is now just a mouse click away after a new web-based training package was launched today.
The Project was undertaken by Services for Australian Rural and Remote Allied Health Inc (SARRAH)
SARRAH was one of the ten successful applicants for the 2008-09 Rural Health Support, Education and Training (RHSET) grants round announced by the Rudd Government in December 2008.
“SARRAH has developed a world-class suite of web-based education and interactive training modules for Australian allied health professionals,” Ms Roxon said.
“This project will greatly benefit those who are moving to, working in or contemplating taking up practice in remote and rural Australia, as well as students undertaking a rural or remote clinical placement.
“The Rudd Government is committed to improving access to health services in rural and regional Australia and the website launch today builds on the $2.5 million Federal Government investment in allied health scholarships giving students clinical placements in rural or remote communities during their degrees,” she said.
The Australian Government has provided $162,000 in funding to SARRAH for this project.
Mr Snowdon said a rural health career offers incredible professional and personal opportunities and the SARRAH training site provides real, practical stories, advice and a discussion board along with the online training modules.
“Whether you are looking for the rewards of working in a remote Indigenous outstation in Central Australia, a coastal town in NSW, or a mining community in WA, the website gives allied health professionals the support and training to help them live and work in rural Australia,” Mr Snowdon said.
“It also helps employers by assisting them with the retention of allied health professionals, and is great news for our regional communities who will no doubt feel the benefit of better supported allied health staff,” he said.
