Caboolture Hospital Receives new ED Infrustructure

The Minister for Health and Ageing, Nicola Roxon and Member for Longman, Jon Sullivan today visited the emergency department at Caboolture Hospital to view plans as part of the hospital’s redevelopment.

The $5.2 million investment by the Rudd Government will see the construction of five treatment bays and dedicated paediatric space in the ED to improve patient privacy.

The Caboolture Hospital is an important hospital serving the outer northern and outer suburbs of Brisbane.

Ms Roxon and Mr Sullivan were briefed on the importance of work to be undertaken to expand services and cater for the growth in the northern suburbs.

Under the $750 million Taking Pressure off Public Hospitals reforms introduced by the Rudd Government, Queensland has received $146.7 million expand emergency department capacity and increasing workforce capacity.

This investment aims to relieve some of the pressure on public hospitals while initiatives to improve the efficiency of public hospitals and the primary care reforms of the Commonwealth are implemented.

Ms Roxon said she was pleased with the progress on construction at Caboolture Hospital and looked forward to being kept up to date on developments by the local member Mr Sullivan.

“The people of Longman have a strong advocate for improved health and community services in Mr Sullivan. He has lobbied hard for these important and improved services for his community,” Ms Roxon said.

Mr Sullivan was pleased that this federal funding would provide services for the people of his electorate.

“This $5.2 million contribution will continue the important work redeveloping and expanding the Caboolture Hospital emergency department.”
