The Rudd Government has signed a contract with Superclinic Nominees Pty Ltd for $2.5 million to establish the Strathpine GP Super Clinic.
People living in the Strathpine area will have better access to quality primary health care services following the establishment of the Strathpine GP Super Clinic.
The Strathpine GP Super Clinic will bring together GPs, practice nurses and allied health professionals including physiotherapists, podiatrists, dieticians and audiologists in one convenient location.
A modern pharmacy is co-located and diagnostic services may also be provided on site as the clinic develops.
The Strathpine GP Super Clinic will also provide preventative care and chronic disease management through activities such as vaccination clinics and home health assessments.
The GP Super Clinic intends to provide many bulk-billed services, including x-ray and pathology, and will operate extended hours during the week and on weekends.
Servicing local health needs of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in Strathpine will also be an important part of the clinic’s operation and will be guided by local community input.
The new clinic will include a community meeting area, health library and primary care research and training facilities that will enhance current local services.
The management of Superclinic Nominees Pty Ltd are committed to providing quality primary health care services to the Strathpine community.
The announcement follows a community consultation held at the Strathpine Community Centre last year, attended by 94 health professionals and community members.
GP Super Clinics will play an important role in improving frontline health services in communities such as Strathpine.
Strathpine becomes the twelfth GP Super Clinic contract to be signed with the Government.
GP Super Clinics are a $275 million commitment of the Rudd Government, providing primary health care services when and where they are needed.
They are a key part of the Government’s plans to improve Australia’s health care system.
