I am pleased to announce that the Australian Government has reappointed Rebecca Davies and John McGee as members of the Private Health Insurance Administration Council (PHIAC).
PHIAC is an independent statutory authority that regulates the private health insurance industry and plays a key role in the Government’s continuing commitment to protect the interests of private health insurance consumers.
Ms Davies was appointed as a member of PHIAC for an initial term in June 2002 and was reappointed in March 2005. She is also the Chair of the council’s Audit and Compliance Committee. Ms Davies is a lawyer with significant commercial law experience and expertise.
Mr McGee has served as a PHIAC member since March 2005. He is a lawyer with extensive executive management experience in the financial services sector.
Members of PHIAC hold office on a part-time basis and report to the PHIAC Commissioner, James Dominguez. As members, Ms Davies and Mr McGee will be responsible for monitoring and regulating the private health insurance industry, and providing information to the Government and other stakeholders on private health insurance matters.
