The Minister for Sport, Kate Ellis today thanked outgoing Port Adelaide chief executive, John James for his contribution to football in South Australia.

Ms Ellis said professional sports administration jobs were extremely important, but often demanding and thankless.

“John joined Port following the club’s first premiership in 2004," she said.

"I found John both professional and good-natured and have enjoyed dealing with him since I took on the sport portfolio.

"I wish him every success in his new role in the US.

“I know he will continue to follow the Power’s fortunes closely and do whatever he can from afar to support the team he loves.”
