Home and Community Care (HACC) services in NSW will receive $4.09 million via joint funding from the Australian and NSW Governments.

The Australian Minister for Ageing, Senator Santo Santoro, and the NSW Government Minister for Ageing and Disability Services, John Della Bosca, jointly announced that their governments would immediately release $3,857,199 recurrent and $235,382 in non- recurrent funding to 30 HACC services across NSW.

“These funds will deliver new dementia monitoring services, domestic help, respite and community transport in high need areas across NSW to frail older people, people with a disability and their families and carers,” Senator Santoro said.

“The additional services will provide the practical assistance families need to support their loved ones at home and in the community,” Mr Della Bosca said.

Examples of how this funding will be used include:
  • 20,153 hours of dementia monitoring services across the local government areas of Dungong, Maitland, Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, Port Stephens, Upper Hunter, Muswellbrook and Singleton;
  • 8,556 hours of domestic assistance services across the Baulkham Hills and Blacktown local government areas;
  • 9,984 hours of respite in the Gosford and Wyong local government areas of which 4,680 hours is designed to provide a break for carers of people with dementia; and
  • 9,984 out of hours trips for users of community transport in the Shellharbour, Kiama and Wollongong local government areas.”
The release of this funding by the Australian Government and the NSW Government brings the amount of HACC recurrent funding for service delivery released in the last six months to $20.528 million.
