Extra one-off funding for home and community care services in Queensland
Home and Community Care services in Queensland will receive an additional $14.8 million in one-off funding, the Australian Government Minister for Ageing, Christopher Pyne, and the Queensland Minister for Communities and Disability Services, Lindy Nelson-Carr, announced on 8 October.

Home and Community Care (HACC) services in Queensland will receive an additional $14.8 million in one-off funding, the Australian Government Minister for Ageing, Christopher Pyne, and the Queensland Minister for Communities and Disability Services, Lindy Nelson-Carr, announced today.
The funding has been allocated to projects that will provide additional service to the frail aged and people with disabilities under the HACC program across Queensland.
This funding is in addition to the $31 million funding increase for 2006-07, announced in May, which brought the total recurrent HACC funding for Queensland this past financial year to more than $309 million.
Mr Pyne said the additional funding would support existing and important care services in metropolitan and country areas.
“HACC services enable people to continue living independently in their own homes,” Mr Pyne said.
Ms Nelson-Carr said the funding would have a particular focus on major infrastructure purchases, transport and allied health equipment.
“In recognising the increasing demand for centre-based day care services, significant funding has been approved to HACC service providers for the purchase, modification and construction of centre based day care facilities,” she said.
The HACC program is a joint Australian Government and state and territory government program.
