Four extensive aged care roundtables canvassing input from care consumers, family members, the workforce, providers and diversity groups are being held in Sydney today, to contribute to the Terms of Reference for the Royal Commission into the aged care sector.
Senior Australians and Aged Care Minister Ken Wyatt AM said the Government was committed to comprehensive consultation.
“I know that every one of the almost 80 representatives attending today has important concerns to contribute, as we work together to prepare for this historic inquiry,” said Minister Wyatt.
“The roundtables will add to the more than 4,800 Terms of Reference submissions we have received online and through emails to my office.
“I am hosting the four roundtables at Sydney Airport because people are arriving from around Australia.”
The roundtables will include widespread representation from:
- Carers, care advocates, aged care consumers, family members, veterans, war widows and social services groups
- Aged care providers, unions, medical, mental and rural health organisations
- Indigenous, multicultural and seniors rights bodies
- Organisations representing younger people living in aged care
“What you are doing has the potential to benefit all Australian families, now and into the future.”
Minister Wyatt said submissions on the Terms of Reference can still be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org and will be received until the Terms of Reference are finalised, in coming weeks.
