The Australian Government has congratulated an aged care services provider for its latest Reconciliation Action Plan and its commitment to better the lives of the indigenous Australians it supports.

The Turnbull Government has congratulated an aged care services provider for its latest Reconciliation Action Plan and its commitment to better the lives of the indigenous Australians it supports.

Speaking at the launch of Advanced Personnel Management’s new Reconciliation Action Plan in Perth today, the Minister for Aged Care and Minister for Indigenous Health, Ken Wyatt, said APM has consistently shown a deep respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.

“APM is one of two providers contracted to deliver Age Care Support Assessment through My Aged Care in the Torres Strait Islands which is part of the Regional Assessment Services,” Minister Wyatt said.

“I appreciate APM’s outstanding commitment to create positive and lasting changes that improve people’s lives, reflecting the vision of their Reconciliation Action Plan.

“Everyone in Australia, no matter where they may live, deserves quality health and aged care. APM has also taken the initiative to find better ways to overcome the challenges of remoteness and better support the aged care needs of these people.”

Minister Wyatt said APM’s flexible approach to providing services in remote communities reflected the broader changes to aged care.

“We are continuing to reform the aged care system to give consumers more flexibility and choice in the care options available to them,” Minister Wyatt said.
“For example, home care packages are now linked to the consumer, rather than providers, giving people more choice and control to choose who provides their care and to change providers if they want.

“The My Aged Care website is also being improved to support people seeking information about their aged care and healthy living options. These changes will help the employees of service providers and assessment organisations like APM that use the website daily to maintain their service information and client referrals.”
