Increased support for Older South Australians
The Australian Government Minister for Ageing, Julie Bishop, and the South Australian Minister for Ageing, Jay Weatherill, today announced a $13.3 million funding boost for Home and Community Care (HACC) in South Australia.

Older South Australians will have increased access to support services such as domestic assistance, transport, home modifications and home maintenance, after the announcement today of a $13.3 million funding boost for Home and Community Care (HACC).
The $13.3 million to South Australia includes $8.9 million in new recurrent funding and $4.4 million one-off funding.
The Australian Government Minister for Ageing, Julie Bishop, and the South Australian Minister for Ageing, Jay Weatherill, today announced the increase in funding for South Australia. The increase brings total HACC funding in the state to more than $118 million for this financial year, more than $73 million from the Australian Government and about $45 million from SA.
Ms Bishop said the new funding would provide extra services older people, younger people with disabilities and carers.
"For example, there will be increased social support for the Italian, Greek and Vietnamese communities in the Mallala, Gawler and Virginia regions. Another example is the expansion of services in the Yorke Peninsula and Copper Coast," Ms Bishop said.
"Most Australians want to remain at home as long as possible and Home and Community Care and other community-based services are helping them to do this."
Mr Weatherill said the additional funding would meet growing demand and special needs.
"About $1 million of the new funding will be used to help Indigenous people and frail older people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Part of the balance will help meet specific needs in rural and remote areas and help provide services that are responsive to the needs of individuals and local communities," Mr Weatherill said.
This financial year, about $1.4 billion is being provided nationwide for the HACC program, with the Australian Government contributing approximately 60 per cent or more than $857 million.
