Profile of The Hon Catherine King MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Health and Ageing


Catherine King has held the Federal seat of Ballarat since the 2001 Federal Election and is the first woman to represent the electorate in Federal Parliament.

Ms King was appointed Parliamentary Secretary for Health and Ageing following the 2010 Election.

She holds a Degree in Social Work (Phillip Institute of Technology) and a Masters in Public Policy (ANU) and was the Victorian Young Achiever of the Year (Community Service) - 1991.

Ms King has worked in the social welfare sector in Ballarat and in the public sector as an assistant director for the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care and then as a director.

Immediately prior to entering Parliament she was a senior manager at KPMG Consulting in Melbourne.

Ms King is married with one son and lives in Ballarat.
