New plane boosts flying doctors in Central Australia
The Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS) in Alice Springs has been boosted with the addition of a new Pilatus PC-12 aircraft, fully funded by the Australian Government. The Government provided $5.1 million for the purchase and medical fit-out of the plane, Beth Stewart Klugh, which the Minister for Health and Ageing, Nicola Roxon, formally dedicated to the RFDS in Alice Springs on 29 October 2008.

New Breast Cancer Nurses for Regional Australia

Advances against breast cancer
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Australia has made huge strides in diagnosing and treating the disease. Breast cancer five-year relative survival has increased from 72 per cent in 1982-1986 to 88 per cent in 1998-2004.
