In the last seven months, the Australian Government has imposed sanctions on nine nursing homes in Australia – with three identified as a result of unannounced visits.

More transition beds operational – helping older Australians regain their independence

The Australian Government announced on 20 August another 66 transition care places - bringing the national total to 101 fully-funded places. The new places are in Victoria and NSW. The Government has committed to create 228 fully funded places under its $293.2 million transition care plan.

Feros Village extension boosts aged care accommodation on NSW Far North Coast. .

With about 16 per cent of people in the Far North Coast of NSW aged over 65, the Minister for Ageing, Mrs Justine Elliot, has welcomed the opening of a major new extension to the Feros Village aged care facility at Bangalow today.

Belvedere Park Nursing Home Revocation – AAT decision. - The Minister for Ageing, Mrs Justine Elliot, welcomed the decision by the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) to affirm the Department of Health and Ageing’s revocation of official approved provider status for a Melbourne nursing home operator which failed a record 42 out of 44 care categories.
