1. The Mental health statement of rights and responsibilities 2012
The revised Mental health statement of rights and responsibilities (the Statement) was endorsed by Australian Health Ministers in November 2012 and formally launched by The Hon Mark Butler MP, Minister for Mental Health and Ageing, at TheMHS Summer Forum in Sydney on 21 February 2013.
The revised Statement is a commitment by all governments to work together to deliver quality mental health services for consumers and carers. It provides a framework for the promotion of social justice, equity and access within the mental health system.

2. The 8th National Seclusion and Restraint Reduction Forum
The 8th National Seclusion and Restraint Reduction Forum New Beginnings - Embedding Cultural Change was held in Queensland on the 29 and 30 October 2012. The Forum was hosted by Queensland Health with the support of the Department of Health and Ageing.

3. The Mental Health Standing Committee hosted the inaugural National Mental Health Recovery Forum on 21 and 22 June 2012
The National Mental Health Recovery Forum provided an opportunity to hear from three key international experts on how recovery oriented service and culture has been implemented and the challenges involved. The program included speakers from diverse backgrounds and service settings, those who have lived experience, educators and regulators. There was an opportunity for interactive discussion and debate.
An overview of the National Recovery Oriented Mental Health Practice Framework Project was presented.
Participants gained an improved knowledge and awareness of different approaches to the implementation of recovery oriented services, and an understanding of critical elements of recovery in different settings and at different stages of the recovery journey.
