How do I use the XML file?
XML files are most commonly utilised to import into Excel spreadsheets and Access databases.
To do this. Save the XML file to a directory/folder/desktop on your computer where you can readily recall it. Open Excel and from the toolbar select Data, XML, then Import. This will import the XML file into a new worksheet. The XML files can be accessed from the Downloads page. This XML file has been tested with Excel XP and Excel 2003.
The following is a simplified, step by step process if you are encountering difficulties with the above method:
- Go to the MBS Online Downloads page and click on the XML link and save the zip file to the Desktop.
- Right click on the zipped file icon on the desktop and choose Winzip, then "Extract to here". This saves the XML file to the Desktop,
- Open Excel then Click on Data, XML, Import and then open the XML file from the desktop - Click on Import,
- You are asked "Where do you want to put the data" i.e Cell$A$1 - click on OK. The data will then appear in the Excel spreadsheet
