Review of the Medicare provider number legislation

The Medicare provider number legislation is reviewed every five years.

Sections 19AA, 3GA and 3GC of the Health Insurance Act 1973 are collectively known as the Medicare provider number legislation. This legislation underpins a range of quality and workforce programs.

A legislative amendment in 2007 changed the frequency of the review from every two years to every five years.
