In April 1999, the then Department of Health and Aged Care convened a two-day national workshop with the aim of identifying and addressing issues relating to medical training and workplace processes.
Among the 160 participants were representatives of medical colleges and professional organisations, registrars, medical students, health departments, medical administrators, and consumers.
The Medical Training Review Panel and the Australian Medical Workforce Advisory Committee have both endorsed the report.
