Increased Clinical Training Capacity (ICTC) program
The ICTC Program will provide approximately 7,500 additional student placements during 2010 and 2011 and include training in chiropractic, dentistry, medicine, nursing and midwifery, optometry, osteopathy, pharmacy, physiotherapy, podiatry and psychology.
Through the Increased Clinical Training Capacity (ICTC) Program, the Australian Government provided almost $68 million (GST exclusive) in 2009/10 for short-term, one-off projects to immediately alleviate capacity constraints in clinical training for entry level professional health students.
The aims and the objectives of the ICTC Program are to:
- support innovative approaches to dealing with the increase in the numbers of people undertaking health professional training and education;
- improve distribution and capacity for teaching and clinical training outside of traditional training settings;
- address training across the mix of eligible disciplines;
- have immediate capacity to provide increased clinical training capacity, and
- promote linkages between the wider professional community.
All projects funded under the ICTC Program will be fully acquitted by 31 October 2012. More information about the successful ICTC Program projects.
