Quality Use of Pathology

Quality Use of Pathology Program 2012-13 Funding Round

The Quality Use of Pathology Program (QUPP) 2012-13 Funding Round was advertised in mid February 2013 with the closing date for applications on 28 March 2013.

The Department of Health and Ageing is seeking applications from organisations to provide project proposals that will promote and/or develop the quality use of pathology.
The proposals must be consistent with the Principles and Objectives of the Pathology Funding Agreement and the goal and objectives of the Quality Use of Pathology Program. Funding up to $2 million is available for each financial year up to 30 June 2016.

For an application to be considered for funding it must be from an eligible organisation and clearly demonstrate that the proposed project will contribute towards improved quality in pathology services.
Priority will be given to proposals that:

  • reduce risks in pathology requesting / testing / reporting processes
  • improve pathology service provision and/or access to pathology in regional and rural areas of Australia
  • lead to enhanced decision support mechanisms
  • streamline or coordinate the education of medical students and resident medical officers with respect to the cost-effective use of diagnostic pathology services, or
  • improve linkages between patient health information databases that incorporate pathology test results, particularly with a view to examining the impact of pathology testing on clinical outcomes.
Applications close on 28 March 2013 and the Invitation to Apply for Funding (ITA) can be found on the Department of Health and Ageing’s Tenders and Grants web page and on GrantsLINK.

Any queries regarding the ITA should be emailed to Quality Use of Pathology Program.
