Assessment Process for Applications Pending MBS/ARTG Numbers for the February 2012 Prostheses List

As advised in PLAC Bulletin #5, the process for assessing applications pending MBS/ARTG numbers is as follows:

• All applications will be assessed by the CAG/PoCE clinicians as per standard process.
• All applications recommended for listing pending MBS and/or ARTG will only be assessed by the PLAC once the MBS and/or ARTG listing is received.
• All applications not recommended for listing will be assessed by the PLAC at the next available meeting.

As the new process for assessing applications pending MBS and/or ARTG approval has only recently been implemented, all applications which have been clinically assessed but are pending MBS and/or ARTG approval will be considered by the PLAC at its final meeting for 2011 on 8 December.

This means that for the February 2012 Prostheses List, the cut-off date for submitting MBS and ARTG numbers is still COB 20 December 2011.

Grouping Scheme Management

At the October 2011 meeting, the PLAC agreed that the ongoing management of the grouping schemes will be the responsibility of the PLAC.

Any policy issues surrounding the grouping schemes will be considered by the HTA Consultative Committee in the first instance.
