Public Health Education and Research Program
Overview of the PHERP
PHERP is an Australian Government initiative that aims to strengthen national capacity to educate and train Australia's public health workforce, so that it is well-prepared and responsive in the protection, improvement and promotion of Australia's health.
PHERP assists tertiary institutions across Australia to offer a range of high quality postgraduate public health education programs, including research training. Through the courses they offer, PHERP-funded universities provide infrastructure to enable implementation of Australia's public health agenda.
PHERP currently has three seperate components, those being Core, Contestable and National Workforce projects that are administered and managed by the Targeted Prevention Programs Branch in the Population Health Division.
