GP Super Clinics
Consultation Process - GP Super Clinics
Local consultation is an important component in the implementation of the GP Super Clinics Program. As part of local consultation, the Australian Government, through the Department of Health and Ageing, conducted a formal public meeting in each of the originally announced 31 GP Super Clinic localities.
The purpose of these meetings was to:
- share with the wider community the Australian Government’s intentions for investing in that community by establishing a GP Super Clinic;
- provide a forum at which the Australian Government can gather the views of local health professionals and the wider community on the health needs and service priorities for the GP Super Clinic, and also identify specific local issues that may impact on the implementation of the program;
- provide general information on application and funding processes for that particular GP Super Clinic locality; and
- define, where applicable, what State or Territory contribution (if any) will also be available for that locality.
Formal public information meetings and local consultations are vital in the process of establishing the GP Super Clinics. In addition to these mechanisms the Commonwealth, and where appropriate, its State or Territory Government partner, has also sought local input. For example input can be provided via the gpsuperclinics@health.gov.au email address.
The Department has also published a summary of the outcomes from these local consultation meetings on this website. See table below.
