Australian Education International, through the National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition, provides official information and advice on the comparability of overseas qualifications with Australian qualifications.AusAID / Swinburne University of Technology
An AusAID student program has existed at Swinburne University of Technology for over 10 years. Currently, there are around 100 AusAID students under scholarships enrolled at Swinburne. Australian Scholarships offers educational and professional development awards to citizens of the Asia-Pacific region. Fields of study are targeted to address agreed priority human resource and development needs of recipient countries, in line with Australia’s bilateral aid program. Australia Needs Skills Recruitment Expos are being held around the world and are designed to help meet the current skills shortage in Australia. The recruitment expos are targeted at overseas recruitment of skilled workers with the following characteristics: under 45; good English language skills; and have qualifications and/or work experience for an occupation on the Migration Occupations in Demand List or other specialist occupations on the Skilled Occupation List required by participating exhibitors.Top of page
- Employers and state and territory governments can be part of an expo by lodging an expression of interest with the department, through the registration system.
- Expos provide the opportunity for Australian employers to: meet and interview skilled workers; recruit overseas skilled workers quickly and cost effectively; reduce skills shortages; and raise company profile.
- Expo booths are available for $4000, exhibitors need to meet their own travel and accommodation costs.
- Overseas applicants must have a valid application for one of the following visa categories: skilled – independent (Migrant) visa; skilled – sponsored (Migrant) visa; skilled – independent (residence) visa; and skilled – sponsored (residence) visa.
- No application charge for applicant details to be listed on the Skill Matching Database.
- Applicants who have their details on the database are not guaranteed a job in Australia or migration application approval.
- Most visa applicants remain on the database until they arrive in Australia.
- The Skill Matching Database is not a job search facility.

Work About Australia
Work About Australia is a website where employers, employment service providers, local government, and development organisations can list their employment needs, and actual vacancies. There is a cost associated with listing related to the number of listings and dependent upon which section the listings are in. There are five different listing sections, two of which are relevant to environmental health: ‘general vacancies’; and ‘tradesmans trek’.General Employment sites

Examples of State/Territory - based overseas recruitment programs
Western Australia
The Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) recruitment campaign 2007:- aims to attract people from overseas to work in the conservation of Western Australia’s biodiversity and protection of its environment;
- is targeted towards South Africa, New Zealand, Canada and the United Kingdom;
- is advertised in overseas print and online media inviting people to register as potential applicants for DEC positions; and
- has a two-step process, involving registration on the WA Government Job Board and the DEC’s Overseas Recruitment Register on the department’s NatureBase website.
