National testing policies are targeted towards health professionals ordering HIV, Hepatitis C and Hepatitis B related tests, and receiving and interpreting results. They set out the framework for providing quality testing and removing real and perceived barriers to testing. The web based provision of the policies allow for regular revision and access to related resources (e.g. related policies, operational guidelines, evidence of best practice) with a download and print function. Expert Reference Committees conduct regular reviews of the National Testing Policies in response to the changing prevention, diagnostic and treatment knowledge base. The Australasian Society for HIV Medicine (ASHM) has been contracted by the Department of Health and Ageing to coordinate these reviews.
Hepatitis C Testing Policy
The National HCV Testing Policy 2012 version 1. has been endorsed by the Blood Borne Virus and Sexually Transmissible Infections Subcommittee (BBVSS) of the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee under the Australian Health Ministers Advisory Committee and the Ministerial Advisory Committee on Blood Borne Viruses and Sexually Transmissible Infections (MACBBVS) and will be reviewed on a six monthly basis by the Expert Reference Committee.Download the full 2012 National HCV Testing Policy v1.0
