Reason for Sanction:
The Approved Provider had not remedied previous non-compliance identified by the Department of Health and Ageing within the timeframe set by the Department. Continued Non compliance is in the following areas:
- Inadequate documentation of resident care plans and progress notes which may lead to confusion, oversights or omissions in delivery of clinical care.
- Inadequate and inappropriate practices related to medication management.
- Inadequate number of appropriately skilled and qualified staff to ensure that the care needs of residents are met.

Current Status of Service:
The Department and the Aged Care Standards and the Accreditation Agency are continuing to monitor the service.

The Service has appointed an adviser.

Sanctions expired on 10 December 2009.

Reason for Sanction:
The Approved provider did not comply with all its responsibilities under the Act, in respect of conducting appraisals and reappraisals of the care needs of recipients, provided with care through the service.

Current Status of Service:
The Approved Provider has appointed a nurse adviser.

The Approved Provider has engaged a management consultant to assist with restructuring management.

The home's management made significant changes to senior nursing staff, which resulted in industrial action. The matter has now been resolved and the threat of strike action alleviated.

Following the staffing changes OneCare Limited has entered into a contract with the Eliza Purton board to provide the positions of CEO and DON.

On 29 April 2003 the delegate met with the board of management to serve a Notice of Decision suspending the Approved Provider's authority from making appraisals with Subsection 25-4 (5) of the Aged Care Act.

Following consideration of reports submitted by the nurse adviser and a Departmental nursing officer, the delegate of the Secretary varied the original sanction by extending the period of effect from three months to six months. The sanction now expires on 20 September 2003.

The sanction expired on 20 September 2003.
