Thusday Island
The community consultation on Thursday Island was held on Thursday 7 December 2012. Forty-one community members and other representatives participated in the consultation and were welcomed by the Minister for Indigenous Health, the Hon Warren Snowdon MP. Key themes and issues discussed at the consultation included the need for flexible and sustainable funding, improving resources such as infrastructure, housing, accommodation and transport, the need for innovative strategies to develop the Torres Strait Islander workforce, community driven services based on local needs to empower communities, the need for health promotion to connect at a community level, accountability within the workforce and more support for mothers and families.Program/Initiatives
