Mental Health and Workforce Division (MHWD)

An outline of the function and structure of the Mental Health and Workforce Division (MHWD).

The Mental Health and Workforce Division's mission is to:

  • build the capacity of the mental health system to ensure that Australians with or at risk of mental illness, and their families and carers, have access to quality health and support services to meet their needs
  • improve the adequacy and quality of Australia's health workforce.
The division is made up of five branches:
  • Mental Health Reform Branch
  • Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Programs Branch
  • Medical Education and Training Branch
  • Nursing, Allied and Indigenous Workforce Branch
  • Workforce Development Branch
