In 2010, the then Minister for Health and Ageing, the Hon Nicola Roxon MP, established a time-limited group, the Borderline Personality Disorder Expert Reference Group.

The Borderline Personality Disorder Expert Reference Group was established to provide advice to the Australian Government on how to focus efforts in this area, including improving identification, treatment and support for individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder.

The group membership included clinicians, researchers, carers and consumers with expertise and knowledge of this disorder. Membership comprised:

  • Dr Christopher Lee
  • Ms Eileen McDonald
  • Ms Janne McMahon
  • Associate Professor Lena Sanci
  • Dr Maria Tomasic
The expert reference group met five times (in Dec 2010, in March, July and October 2011, and in March 2012) and provided its advice to government in October 2012.
