Borderline Personality Disorder Expert Reference Group

The then Minister for Health and Ageing, the Hon Nicola Roxon MP, established the Borderline Personality Disorder Expert Reference Group in 2010.

The Borderline Personality Disorder Expert Reference Group was established to provide advice to the Australian Government on how to focus efforts in this area, including improving identification, treatment and support for individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder.

This group includes membership of clinicians, researchers, carers and consumers with expertise and knowledge of this disorder. Current membership comprises:

  • Professor Louise Newman AM (Chair)
  • Dr Andrew Chanen
  • Ms Merinda Epstein
  • Dr Martha Kent
  • Dr Christopher Lee
  • Ms Eileen McDonald
  • Ms Janne McMahon
  • Associate Professor Lena Sanci and
  • Dr Maria Tomasic.
The expert reference group has met four times (in Dec 2010 and in March, July and October 2011). The fifth meeting is scheduled for March 2012 where advice is expected to be finalised to the Australian Government.
