Independent Medical Research Institutes

As part of the review process, the Secretariat has developed a list of independent Medical Research Institutes (iMRIs). The Review Panel acknowledges that this may not be a complete or accurate list of iMRIs.

Discussion Paper

Following analysis of the submissions to the Issues Paper, a Discussion Paper has now been released as part of the iMRI Review Panel’s consultation strategy.

The Review Panel invites submissions for the Discussion Paper from independent and other medical research institutes, universities, state and territory governments, hospitals, clinical researchers, health professionals and private contributors.

Further information regarding the Panel’s consultation strategy, including a targeted workshop scheduled for 2 March 2015, will be available shortly.

Submissions for the Discussion Paper closed 22 February 2015 at midnight AEDT.

Issues Paper

On 18 November 2014 an Issues Paper was released as part of the review's consultation strategy. The Review Panel invited submissions from independent and other medical research institutes, universities, state and territory governments, hospitals, clinical researchers, health professionals and private contributors.

The Review Panel also requested that independent Medical Research Institutes complete a template providing information on their business frameworks.

Submissions closed on Sunday 7 December 2014 at midnight AEDT.

Business Model Template

The Terms of Reference require the Panel to review the major types of business models used by Australian iMRIs, including sources and application of funds, capital and asset models, corporate and research infrastructure platforms, translational impact and make recommendations for improved efficiency. The Panel requested that independent Medical Research Institutes complete a template providing information on their business frameworks. The template is available below:
