Healthcare Identifiers Act and Service Review - Final Report - June 2013

Section 35 of the Healthcare Identifiers Act 2010 (HI Act) requires that an independent review of the Healthcare Identifiers (HI) legislation and HI Service is conducted after two years of operation. The review was conducted by Ms Joanna Kelly.

The aim of the review was to ensure that the HI Act provides the regulatory support to enable the HI Service to operate efficiently and support the sharing of clinical information in practice.

Commonwealth, state and territory governments have considered the findings and recommendations of the Healthcare Identifiers Act and Service Review – Final Report, and have jointly prepared a response. This response was agreed by the Council of Australian Governments Health Council on 7 August 2015.
