How to find a Hearing Practitioner
When your eligibility is confirmed you will need to find a hearing practitioner. This page will assist you to find a hearing practitioner.
When your eligibility is confirmed the Office of Hearing Services (the Office) will send you a package containing a letter with an attached hearing services voucher, a copy of the Australian Government Hearing Services Program information booklet and a list of hearing practitioners located within your area.
There are two ways to find a hearing practitioner:
- 1. On Screen: Click on the State you would like to Search, and then the letter of the city/town you are looking for. From the list provided, click on the relevant city/town. The Contracted Service Providers who offer hearing services in the location you have chosen will be displayed. If you are unable to find your city/town try searching a nearby city/town.
2. Download: You can download a list of all Contracted Service Providers by State from the list below. The list is an MS excel spreadsheet and can be searched and filtered by Name, Suburb/Town, or Postcode.
Please note that some locations provide services through visiting sites. Where a location operates at specific times, the location is listed as a visiting site.
Once you have identified your preferred hearing practitioner, please contact them to book an appointment and if applicable, discuss any accessibility issues you might have.

Note for hearing practitioners and Contracted Service Providers:
The Hearing Services Online (HSO) project will create a new online portal for the Office of Hearing Services (the Office), which will transform the way that Service Providers and Clients interact with the Office. Any site amendments in the system during the next few months will impact on the testing and data migration, and therefore updating of the site details has been suspended until the launch of the new online portal.
To provide Service Providers with adequate time to correct any site details prior to the close, we notified Service Providers that site amendment processing would cease on 22 February 2013, You can view a copy of this CSPN 2012/34 on our website.
You may wish to encourage your sites to provide any contact detail changes to your clients when they arrange appointments.
Following the release of the new online portal, Service Providers will be able to maintain and update their own site information through the online portal.

Help with accessing large documents
When accessing large documents (over 500 KB in size), it is recommended that the following procedure be used:
- Click the link with the RIGHT mouse button
- Choose "Save Target As.../Save Link As..." depending on your browser
- Select an appropriate folder on a local drive to place the downloaded file
Attempting to open large documents within the browser window (by left-clicking)
may inhibit your ability to continue browsing while the document is
opening and/or lead to system problems.
Help with accessing PDF documents
To view PDF (Portable Document Format) documents, you will need to have a PDF reader installed on your computer. A number of PDF readers are available through the Australian Government Information Management Office (AGIMO) Web Guide website.
