Better health and ageing for all Australians

Hearing Services Online Project

The Office of Hearing Services (the Office) is in the process of implementing a new online portal that supports the Australian Government Hearing Services Program (the Program). This online portal is part of the Hearing Services Online (HSO) Project.

The new online portal will change the way Service Providers interact with the Program. The first release of the online portal in 2013 will make interactions with the Office easier as Service Providers will be able to manage the following functions online:

  • verifying applicant eligibility
  • assisting with the lodgement of client applications
  • checking the validity of a client’s voucher
  • requesting client return vouchers
  • managing relocations and
  • managing site registrations and details.
To access the online portal, Service Providers will need:
  • an AUSkey registered to the organisation and for each user
  • AUSkey software installed on the organsiations web browser and
  • an email invitation from the Office to join the online portal.

Further information about how to obtain an AUSkey view the 2013-01 - HSO Coordinator Bulletin – Initial Account Setup and AUSkey.

To ensure Service Providers are prepared to use the new online portal, the Office has established HSO Coordinators in each Service Provider to disseminate HSO Project related information. If you need to change your HSO Coordinator details please download the HSO Coordinator Change of Contact Details Form and email it to ohscomms@health.gov.au. Regular HSO Project Bulletins (previously known as HSO Coordinator Bulletins) are sent to the HSO Coordinators to provide updated HSO Project information. All HSO Project Bulletins are available from the HSO Project Bulletin page.

Help with accessing large documents

When accessing large documents (over 500 KB in size), it is recommended that the following procedure be used:

  1. Click the link with the RIGHT mouse button
  2. Choose "Save Target As.../Save Link As..." depending on your browser
  3. Select an appropriate folder on a local drive to place the downloaded file

Attempting to open large documents within the browser window (by left-clicking) may inhibit your ability to continue browsing while the document is opening and/or lead to system problems.

Help with accessing PDF documents

To view PDF (Portable Document Format) documents, you will need to have a PDF reader installed on your computer. A number of PDF readers are available through the Australian Government Information Management Office (AGIMO) Web Guide website.
